Aliens: Not a Valid Enough Reason to Hate Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
by Saucy JackThe world is still reeling from 2008’s dizzyingly bad Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull . Dedicated fans were quick to trash the fourth installment of the franchise and they continue to do so even today.
Here’s my problem though: I have heard several people make the case that aliens do not belong in an Indiana Jones movie and that their inclusion in the plot is what ruined the film. This is a silly statement to make when there are so many other factors that ruined the film. What about scene with the refrigerator and the test bombing? What about the scene with a sword fight spanning two cars and someone travelling by way of vine swinging? What about the leather clad Shia LeBeouf clowning around and possibly taking over the reins of future Indiana Jones movies?
The alien angle is not too far-fetched to be in the film. It is just as believeable as an ark containing killer spirits that will spare you if you don’t look at them. It is just as believeable as a potion that makes you completely subservient unless you really love the girl you’re supposed to kill.
But I really wish we could go back to the days before this movie happened.
