Campaigning against Prop 8 at this point does seem a little like closing the barn door after the horses, Mormons, and religious black voters are already out. However, if you’re like me and would still like to give a voice to your discontent, here’s a thought:

On December 10th, anyone and everyone is encouraged to call in “gay” to work, in a show of support for International Human Rights Day and the LGBT community.

Here’s the short version:

1) Gay people are pissed.

2) Gay people make a lot of money. (A LOT.)

3) Gay people have decided to neither make nor spend money for a day in order to cause an immediate economic crater, thus bringing just how pissed they are to everybody’s attention.

Sounds simple enough. Plus if you’re not happy with Prop 8 (like me) and were looking for just about any reason to take a day off work (also like me), it’s a win-win. I intend to spend Wednesday the 10th sitting on my ass, watching Knight Rider and eating chicken. Social reform is tricky business.
